Our Story

Hi, my name is Max, and I’ve always loved dogs. Shortly after I turned 18 and finally had a place of my own, I adopted my first dog, Avi. He had been neglected as a puppy and was about to be put down when I found him. Skittish and afraid, he wasn’t sure what to make of an energetic teenager determined to give him a good life, but he didn’t have much choice. Over time, Avi became my best friend and showed me a kind of loyalty and love I’d never known before.

Eventually, Avi got a buddy: Bandit, a goofy Staffy who lived to be pet and sit on your foot. Bandit had none of Avi’s reservations, especially when it came to water. He would dive headfirst into any bowl, sloshing and splashing until my floors were soaked. I tried every fountain and bowl I could find, but nothing kept the water clean and my floors dry. The best I could do was a compromise, flowing water for the dogs, a silicone mat for the splashes, and the constant headache of scrubbing slimy fountains that were nearly impossible to clean.

Bandit - the Splash King! (water chaos and endless puddles)

Then came Ollie, my first puppy from the start, my beautiful little boy. And with Ollie came chaos. No matter what I tried, he managed to turn water time into bath time for my entire kitchen. Full-sized mats, towels, and endless cleanup became my daily routine. When I bought a “splash-proof” fountain I’d seen advertised online, Ollie broke it within minutes, pawing at the floating disc, then flipping the waterspout so it poured directly onto my floor.

That was the breaking point. I realized no one had truly solved this problem, and I couldn’t let it go. Over months, I sketched, tested, failed, and redesigned. One prototype would stop the splashing but was impossible to clean. Another was easy to clean but way too expensive. Still, I kept at it.

I knew the answer had to be simple, powerful, and something no dog could outsmart. That’s when I remembered a little gadget from my childhood…

I’ve always been fascinated by UV-C light and ozone ever since my dad’s little car ionizer amazed me as a kid. Over the years, I learned how powerful UV-C really is, not just for air, but for water too. It clicked: instead of stuffing a fountain full of complicated filters that clog, slime up, and cost a fortune to replace, why not keep water safe and fresh using constant UV-C sterilization?

The breakthrough design! (after months of fails, finally a winner)

That insight became the foundation of the Freedom Pet Fountain. By using a real 3-watt UV-C bulb, not a weak LED that only runs a few minutes an hour like most “UV” bowls, we deliver continuous purification, 24/7. Combined with heavy-radius corners, triple-density foam filtration, and an easy-to-clean design, the Freedom Pet Fountain keeps water clean, floors dry, and dogs happy.

From CAD to Reality! (Ollie disappointed he can’t make a mess anymore)

For me, it’s more than just a bowl. It’s the solution I needed for Avi, Bandit, and Ollie, the dogs who inspired this journey. And it’s for every dog parent out there who’s tired of mopping floors and scrubbing slime, but who knows their pups deserve nothing less than clean, fresh water every day.
